AUSTIN (WBAP/KLIF News) – Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed a response to the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals concerning the state’s Sanctuary City Law.
The court ruled last month that only a portion of the bill could go into effect.
Mark Rylander with the Attorney General’s office said the legislation will keep Texans safe.
“Senate Bill 4 is a common sense measure that prevents governments in Texas from standing in the way of federal immigration law,” he said.
Senate Bill 4 allows police to check the immigration status of people during a traffic stop.
A hearing on the constitutionality of the bills is scheduled for November 7th.
