DALLAS(WBAP/KLIF)- Several donation websites popping up to reduce the financial toll that victims and families of the Sutherland Springs church shooting are facing, but the Better Business Bureau of North Texas is reminding people to do their research before they donate.
“There are these sites, that provide people with an opportunity to donate and donate quickly, the problem is, that people who are in a really vulnerable state will give without doing their homework first,” according to Phylissia Clark of Better Business Bureau of North Texas.
“Check to see if there is a charity that can be verified that’s collecting first because those you can do real research on and find out whether or not they are tax exempt.”
Clark recommends that when possible, give directly to the family or charity, eliminating the third party donation site.
