Texas Business Leaders Speak About Potential Impact of So-Called ‘Bathroom Bill’

(WBAP/KLIF) – Texas business leaders are speaking out about how the proposed ‘Bathroom Bill’ could prevent big companies from relocating to the state.

The House Select Committee on Economic Competitiveness was formed to bring big business to the state. Dallas Mavericks Owner and Entrepreneur Mark Cuban spoke in front of the committee this week saying that legislation like the bathroom bill will keep big business away.

“Excellence comes in all different shapes, sizes, and ethnicity’s,” Cuban said. “If we’re not ready to recognize that then huge companies like Amazon are going to find other places to relocate to.”

The bill would only allow a person to use the bathroom specific to the sex on their birth certificate, which opponents say would force transgender people into uncomfortable and potentially dangerous situations.

Dallas Stars Owner Jim Lites, and Ross Perot Junior also addressed the committee on potential impacts the bill could have on the state’s economy.
