AUSTIN (WBAP/KLIF News) – Governor Greg Abbott is offering up to a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the murder of a U.S. Border Patrol agent and the serious injury of another.
Agent Rogelio Martinez died Sunday due to injuries he sustained while on duty in the the Big Bend area.
Investigators believe he and his partner, who remains in the hospital in serious condition, were attacked with rocks.
Abbott said he wants to do everything in his power to prevent these types of attacks from happening again.
“We owe a great deal of gratitude to the brave men and women of the United States Border patrol who serve every day to protect our homeland. Cecilia and I offer our deepest condolences to the families of the agents killed and seriously injured in this attack. As authorities continue their investigation, it is important that they receive any and all information to help apprehend and deliver swift justice to those responsible,” said Governor Abbott.
The reward is through the Texas Crime Stoppers program.
