HOUSTON (WBAP/KLIF News) – Travelers who have stop overs or are flying out of airports in Houston will notice something different this year.
Officers at Bush Intercontinental and Hobby Airports will be carrying AR-15 rifles during the holiday travel season.
Captain Glen Yorek said there’s no specific threat but his department wants to have a presence to help prevent any incidents.
“We’re going to try and be as visible as possible to offer a deterrent to any would be offender,” he said.
The department said it will carry the rife’s during heightened travel seasons and following any domestic threats.
Yorek said other cities like L.A. and Boston will have a similar presence.
