Unconfirmed Report: Dallas County Sheriff To Resign, Run For Governor

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – There are unconfirmed reports that Lupe Valdez will resign from her position as Dallas County Sheriff effective December 8th to run for Texas Governor, according to WFAA-TV and the Dallas County Democratic Party. In a tweet late Wednesday, the official Dallas County Sheriff’s Office Twitter page wrote: ‘the Sheriff is considering the next stage in her career. A letter of resignation was not submitted today. The sheriff will make a formal announcement when her final decision is made.’ Sheriff Valdez was first elected in 2004.
