DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The attorney for a man shot by a Mesquite Police Officer says he wants more than that following the officer’s termination.

Authorities say the Officer thought Lyndo Jones was breaking into a vehicle, but the truck belonged to Jones. The Officer ended up shooting Jones who is still in the hospital. The officer is now fired, but Attorney Lee Merritt says he wants criminal charges filed.

“We’re still confounded that the District Attorney has not filed criminal charges against this Officer,” Merritt said. “We’re hopeful that the Grand Jury will file the proper indictments.”

Merritt said that anytime a case involves someone being shot by an Officer, it’s presented to a Grand Jury.
