CARROLLTON(WBAP/KLIF)- Possible freezing temperatures and light rain this New Years holiday is prompting crews to pre-treat roadways. All major roads and highways across the metroplex are being pre-treated with brine, according to Ryan Lafontane with TxDOT.
“It’s better to be safe then sorry in a situation like this and we don’t want to leave anything to chance.”
Brine is a saltwater mix that is sprayed into bridges and overpasses to improve road conditions.

NTTA has also pre-treated all of their roads and both agencies are prepared with extra trucks if needed.
