GARLAND (WBAP/KLIF) – Baylor Scott & White Health is evaluating its options regarding more than 700 employees who work at the Garland Hospital which is scheduled to close in March.
Hospital officials said in a statement that during the transition, they are committed to assisting and supporting the 711 employees who currently work at the Garland location. Baylor Scott & White has approximately 48,000 employees, and currently has close to 2,000 open positions. The Health System is optimistic that it will be able to place within the system the majority of the employees impacted by the closure.
“We have already held three job fairs, which have been attended by 350 employees, and more are scheduled,” A statement read. “Employees are currently being placed in other positions, and we expect the rate of placement to increase in the coming weeks.”
The Garland Hospital will stay open until March 1, and for that reason, there will be employees who will not be able to move to new jobs until after it closes.
