Hebron High School Principal Issues Apology After Botched Lockdown Drill On Campus

CARROLLTON  (WBAP/KLIF News) – A lock down drill at Hebron High School on Thursday caused a sense of panic among students and some of their parents.

Principal Scot Finch issued an apology after receiving numerous calls from parents about the situation.

“It is our district protocol to ensure students know the situation is a drill, and I failed to make that clear today,” wrote Finch.

He issued a letter on the Lewisville ISD school’s website.

Hebron Parents,

I need to offer you a most sincere apology for the way today’s lockdown drill was conducted. It is our district protocol to ensure students know the situation is a drill and I failed to make that clear today. This mistake understandably created a sense of panic for our students until it became apparent the situation was a drill.

I take full responsibility for the communication gap and I want to assure you it will not happen again.

If there is something positive to be gained from today, I can tell you that our student responded admirably to the call for a lockdown and our building was quickly secure.

I apologize again for the way the situation was handled.

Sincerely,

Scot Finch / Principal / Hebron High School
