DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall and her current Dallas Chief of Staff Thomas Taylor were involved in domestic violence incidents in Detroit before being hired in Dallas.
Chief Hall said she is not proud of slapping her boyfriend. She said it happened in Detroit during their breakup in 2010, when she was leaving him. Hall said he grabbed her arm so she slapped him in the face and left.
Mayor Mike Rawlings spoke to WFAA TV…”her sensibility about this and her disappointment in herself in that situation was something that I appreciated in her.”
City Manager TC Broadnax said he knew about the incident prior to hiring Chief Hall, but felt it would “not impact her ability to be successful in Dallas.”.
No charges were ever filed.
