
Azle, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – A Parker County man is behind bars after telling neighbors that he stabbed his pitbull, who was in heat, because other dogs were sniffing at it.
30-year old Matthew Shane Clements of Azle has been charged with cruelty to non-livestock animals.
Deputies said they found the bloody, brownish-colored dog in the bathtub and Clements, who was drunk when they arrived at his home Monday night.
At that time Clements admitted to deputies what he did.
He also said when the the dog “snapped” at him, he “hit the dog on the head” with what he described as a small black pocketknife.
The sheriff’s office, the dog may not fully recover because the knife tip remains in her skull and surgery would be life-threatening.
The county has taken custody of the dog.
