TARRANT COUNTY (WBAP/KLIF) – Back to school is around the corner and parents are asked to get their children vaccinated. Terri Andrews, Chairman of the Tarrant County Immunization Collaboration, said in 2003, state law makers made it easier for parents to opt out of getting the shot.
Since then, Tarrant County has been a ‘hot spot’ for children without vaccinations. Andrews said parents were doing a lot of research on the internet and were reluctant to get the shot because of a study linking it to Autism. “The study was disproven years ago and the doctor lost his medical license,” Andrews said.
The Tarrant County Immunization Collaboration is having immunization events throughout the month of August.
