FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) – Students at Texas Christian University are thinking more about ways to stay safe after a woman was robbed a gunpoint at grocery store near the campus early Wednesdamorning.
Investigators said the woman was sitting in her car at the Kroger on Universiry Drive just south of campus when a man opened the door, pulled a gun and threatened to shoot her.
This TCU student said she was shocked that it happened so close to campus.
“Being near campus, I find that that is a safe place with the lighting and the university police but you can never be too safe,” she said.
She said the incident has made her more aware of the importance of not becoming complacent when it comes to safety.
“So my phone is always with me if I am running in the dark and my locations is shared with my family and friends and I won’t run alone,” she said.
The victim in the robbery case managed to escape unharmed.
Authorities are urging both students and residents to always be aware of their surroundings.
