(McKinney, TX) – McKinney ISD officials have reversed their decision, after telling a student brain cancer patient that she couldn’t wear her turquoise wig to school.
Lt. Governor Dan Patrick chimed in on the matter in a twitter post, saying that he would ask the school to make an exception for 17-year old Kate Pepper.
School leaders say they had decided to reverse their decision prior to Patrick’s tweet. the initial decision was made because of dress code rules.
I support clear rules for students but I am asking McKinney ISD to create an exception to their dress code and allow Kate Pepper to wear her beautiful wig. I will send a formal communication to the district tomorrow. #txlegehttps://t.co/nD4OspZ7nc
