McKinney ISD Says New $70 Million Stadium is Ready for Football Season Despite Cracking Issues

MCKINNEY (WBAP/KLIF News) – Even with cracks large enough to poke a finger through, McKinney ISD its starting its football season on time and in its new nearly $70 million stadium.

Inspectors have determined that the cracks will not hurt anyone and are unlike the problem that temporarily closed down Allen ISD’s stadium for over a year.

A preliminary report by Nelson Forensics found the cracks outside the home-side concourse foundation to be excessive but said it doesn’t presently compromise the structure.

The gates will open for the first time at Thursday night’s game between McKinney and McKinney North High Schools at 7.

The pricey stadium will be used by three schools. Experts said the facility rivals colleges and professional football stadiums.
