FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF) – According to police a 54-year-old white man was shot by police as he threw a knife at officers at a Fort Worth residence Wednesday night. Authorities say a family member of the man called 911 around 6:30p.m. in the evening to report he was tearing up his bed with a knife in the 6300 block of Purington avenue.
Three police officers and a segregate arrived three minutes later and found the suspect holding the knife and acting erratic. Police say the man then threw the weapon at the officers and the sergeant fired at least one shot, hitting the suspect. The officers on the scene are okay. The suspect was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital but is expected to recover from his injuries, according to a police spokesman.
