Crowd of About 200 Protesters Call for Justice for Botham Jean

Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – Protesters marched in downtown Dallas to remember Botham Jean. He’s the the 26-year old man police say was killed by a Dallas Police officer who had mistakenly entered his apartment on Friday night and thought that she was being robbed.

Several dozen protestors gathered at Dallas Police headquarters last night around 7pm, and marched to various locations. One stop was at the apartment where Botham Jean was shot; they stopped there and kneeled.

They then moved to the office of the Dallas Police Association and ended up back at police headquarters. at one point police fired pepper balls to help control the crowd, but the rally was peaceful for the most part. Police monitored the crowd on horseback.

The crowd grew to an estimated two hundred people before the march ended.

A funeral service for Jean will be held Thursday at noon at the Greenville Avenue Church of Christ in Richardson. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10 a.m. to noon.
