Big Tex Raised on the Fair Grounds

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Big Tex is in place for his 66th year at the State of Fair Texas.

The 55-foot-tall cowboy was raised in his post in Big Tex Circle at Fair Park Friday. The famous mascot of the fair was given a brand-new pair of Luchesse boots during the raising ceremony.
“We asked our designer to incorporate the Texas spirit and heritage of the fair,” said Nick Roach with the boot company. “What that resulted in was this classic blue collar at the top, followed by red quarters. We traditionally dressed Big Tex, years ago, in red quarters.”
Dickies outfitted Big Tex with the same outfit he has worn the previous two years. The retailer plans to change his outfit next year.
The State Fair of Texas opens next Friday.
