Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – Activists want Dallas County DA Faith Johnson to withdraw a motion to try a group of teens as adults in connection with an alleged July 22nd crime spree. Six teens are accused of car theft and robbing several different people in Oak Cliff, including one couple at gunpoint.
Garrett and Caroline Scharton were among alleged victims. Surveillance video captured the moment they were accosted outside their home by a group of armed boys, demanding money. The couple led the effort to have the suspects tried as adults.
“The gun doesn’t and age, the bullets don’t have an age. The crime is an adult crime, and trauma and terror is real,” Garrett Scharton told WFAA-TV two days after the alleged incident.
The Texas Organizing Project (TOP) and Color Of Change to deliver more than 20-thousand petition signatures demanding Dallas County D.A. Faith Johnson “stop vigilante justice against Black youth.”
