Fredricksburg (WBAP/KLIF) – A World War Two vintage fighter plane crashed into an apartment complex parking lot Saturday afternoon in Fredricksburg. The pilot and a passenger were killed when their P-51D Mustang slammed into the pavement and parked cars. No one on the ground was hurt. Witnesses say the P-51’s engine “didn’t sound right” just before it dipped to one side, and went down. The plane crashed while returning to the Gillespie County Airport from performing a flyover for Fredricksburg’s National Museum of the Pacific War.
