Baltimore, MD (WBAP/KLIF) – The appointment of Fort Worth Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald to be Baltimore’s new Police Commissioner might not be the done deal it has been reported to be. Fitzgerald’s appointment was announced by Baltimore’s Mayor, but the Baltimore City Council is now criticizing what it says has been her lack of transparency in the selection process. A majority of the City Council members insist they have not confirmed her decision. A delegation from the Baltimore City Council plans to be in Fort Worth December 9 to vet Fitzgerald for itself. The full Baltimore City Council has scheduled two hearings in January: one for public comment, the other to evaluate Fitzgerald’s qualifications. After that members say they may or may not take a final vote.
