Undated (WBAP/KLIF) – The head of PricewaterhouseCoopers-U.S. has written an op-ed, inspired by the high-profile Dallas police shooting of former Pricewaterhouse-Dallas employee, Botham Jean.
In the Dallas Morning News piece, Chairman and CEO Tim Ryan refers to Botham as ‘Bo’ and says that his death has re-awakened his awareness to the issue of unconscious bias–specifically in the workplace.
Ryan writes, “For many, Bo’s death is the fullest manifestation of the bias that black people in this country regularly.”
Through his ‘CEO Action for Diversity and Inclusion’ organization – the largest executive lead coalition on workplace diversity — members are encouraged to commit to gain a “better understand how bias works in order to help remove it from their daily actions,” through the newly formed ‘I Act On‘ pledge.
I hope to be part of a solution that starts with recognizing that bias, whether explicit or implicit, is dangerous and has no place in our workplace or society. #BeLikeBo #CEOAction https://t.co/5z8F4B1U7N
