Details on Winter Weather Approaching North Texas

FORT WORTH – WBAP/KLIF – It’s going to be a bit of a belt of winter weather, but likely, forecasters say at THIS point, not a major ice storm.  National Weather Service Meteorologist Steve Fano says the winter storm’s edges move into North Texas and Central Texas with a cold rain Tuesday night.  Wednesday, some measure of freezing precipitation is most likely north and west of the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex.

On Thursday, the threat widens south and west to include the DFW Metro and perhaps extending southward into a couple counties south of the Metro.  While freezing rain is a threat in the area, it’s believed – at this point from what meteorologists see – the areas that will receive it are likely to be just above freezing. That means flat surfaces may not see the rain stick as ice, with the exceptions of overpasses and shaded areas.

Thursday as well, the DFW area and southward could see some mix of light snow and sleet.

Experts suggest you carry blankets, a flashlight, bit of food and water with you in case you get stranded in this weather for any reason.
