13 Men Arrested for Online Solicitation of a Minor During an Undercover Operation in Denton County

DENTON COUNTY (WBAP/KLIF)- 13 men were arrested after agreeing to meet with minors for sex in Denton County.

Denton County Sheriff’s Department conducted a joint online solicitation operation with local state and federal agencies.

“We had a location set in Denton where an officer was posing as an underage child, 11 of them showed up and two of them did enough and agreed to meet so we got warrants on them,” said Denton County Sheriff Tracy Murphree.

Murphree said they had to arrest them quickly because another person would show up. “It was non stop…which is really scaring because we have only reached the tip of the iceberg on everyone who’s out there online seeking to have sex with these kids,” Murphree said.

Murphree urges parents to monitor their children’s social media.  “Parents be vigilant make sure you know who your kids are talking to..be aware that these predators are out there, they come from all walks of life and they have an open window to kids through these sites and apps,” Murphree said.

Murphree said some are charged with multiple counts of Online Solicitation of a minor and some are believed to be in the U.S illegally. U.S. immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed immigration detainers on those individuals. He said the agency surpassed arrests and cases from their July Operation and will continue to have these operations to protect children.
