Arlington Police Officer Indicted for Deadly Traffic Stop Shooting

ARLINGTON (WBAP/KLIF)- An Arlington Police Officer has been indicted on criminally negligent homicide charges.

Police say officer Bau Tran shot and killed O’shae Terry September last year as he tried to take off from a traffic stop. Video released from the department shows Tran holding down Terry’s window as he was trying to roll it up…telling him to stop and then shooting into his car multiple times. Terry was pulled over for an expired tag and police say his car smelled like marijuana.

Lieutenant Chris Cook said in a statement, the department has issued a criminal and administrative investigation and the Grand Jury’s decision will be an additional factor to consider.

The involved officer, Bau Tran, was serving in a restricted duty capacity immediately following the incident last year, and he has now been placed on leave pending conclusion of the administrative investigation.

The next steps, upon the completion of the administrative investigation, include presenting the facts of this case to the employee’s chain of command for review and disposition,” said Cook.

He said  they anticipate the investigation to be concluded within the next few weeks.
