EF-1 Tornado Confirmed Near TWU as Strong Thunderstorms Pelted DFW

Update at 12:30pm:

The National Weather Service says the damage caused near Eagle Mountain Lake was most likely just from thunderstorm winds and not a tornado. Meanwhile, meteorologists have confirmed a low-end EF-1 tornado in the Justin area with 86-90 MPH winds. It is believed the path of that tornado was about a mile long and the only damage was to trees in the area.

Denton (WBAP/KLIF) – Denton residents are cleaning up this morning after a tornado moved through a neighborhood northeast of the Texas Woman’s University campus.

Several trees were downed off Linwood Road, about half a mile from campus…one was snapped in half.

Many neighboring roads are covered in branches and leaves from tree damage, but it appears there isn’t much, if any, structural damage.

Nobody was reported injured in the tornado — it was Denton’s first in more than two years.

More storms are expected later today.

A tree narrowly missed a man’s house, but smashed his yellow Mustang.
