Sears Building at Valley View Mall Demolished to Pave Way for “Midtown” Project

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – The redevelopment of property at Valley View mall in North Dallas is underway.

Demolition of the old Sears building and auto center at Valley View began Thursday as developers pave the way for a new development in what will be known as “midtown” near LBJ Freeway and Preston Road. In its place, Park Heritage is going up. KDC Developers and Seritage Growth Partners are commencing construction of the 22-acre mixed-use development.

“Big companies considering moving to North Texas want urban options,” said Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings. “And this will provide them with that.”

Park Heritage will be up to 2 million square feet with two Class A office towers, retail, restaurants, luxury residential rental units, and 3-acres of green space. The development is part of the Dallas Midtown Redevelopment Zone, which surrounds Valley View Mall.

Construction on a portion of the project is expected to start next year.
