Texas House Advances Bill to Expand Medical Marijuana Use

(WBAP/KLIF)- The Texas House advanced a bill that would expand the list of ailments that allow Texans to legally use Medical Marijuana.

House Bill 1365 adds Alzheimer’s, Crohn’s disease, PTSD and more…

Lisa Sewell is on the board of directors for DFW NORML, a non-profit group that supports Marijuana legalization. “Cannabis overall is a great alterative therapeutic option replacing opioids and other medications.,.there’s a lot of research to show how much cannabis can help these patients but here in Texas we were so limited and a lot of Texans were getting left behind because there wasn’t enough ailments listed,” Sewell said.

Sewell said there are more ailments that aren’t listed that can benefit from this but is happy with the step in the right direction. “We live in a very conservative state, so we’re happy and we will take what we can get,” she said.

The Bill would also increase the number of dispensaries to grow and distribute to patients so there will be more access.

“We are grateful..we hope that the Senate, the Governor and the Lieutenant Governor understand the importance of this bill..it helps thousands of patients in Texas and we want them to know how serious we are about this,” Sewell said.
