Charges Upgraded to Murder in Drunk Driving Crash that Killed Former Dallas City Councilwoman

Jonathan Moore: Dallas County Jail

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Charges were upgraded Friday for the suspected drunk driver jailed in the deaths of a former Dallas City Councilwoman and her daughter.

36-year-old Jonathan Moore has five previous DWI convictions. According to Dallas Police, the car he was driving hit 57-year-old Carolyn Davis’ vehicle head-on Monday on Ledbetter Drive in Dallas, killing her and ultimately her daughter, 26-year-old Melissa Davis-Nunn.

Davis-Nunn died at Baylor Medical Center days after the crash.

Moore was initially charged with Intoxication Manslaughter and Intoxication Assault, but now faces two counts of Murder.

Dallas City Councilwoman Jennifer Staubach-Gates served on the council with Davis and reflected on the person she knew.

“I always found her to be friendly, personable, and a happy person who loved her community,” said Staubach-Gates. “The death was obviously a surprise and extremely tragic.”

Funeral services for Davis and her daughter are set for Tuesday, July 23 at 1 p.m. at Inspiring Body of Christ Church on Westmoreland Rd. in Dallas.
