Frisco (WBAP/KLIF) – Just days after reports of a Texas teen being among dozens of people nationwide suffering from lung disease linked to vaping, Frisco ISD has taken action.
Stephanie Cook who heads up the guidance counseling department for the district says it will roll out the ‘Catch My Breath’ campaign next month — an awareness campaign created by the Texas Department of Health.
Cook agrees that teen vaping is a problem. She told WFAA-TV that kids walk around with vape pens like the carry their cells phones.
The Centers for Disease Control says as many as 50 people in at least six states have experienced breathing illnesses linked to vaping products.
A U.S. Surgeon General’s report from 2016 dubbed, E-Cigarette Use Among Youth and Young Adults, warned that E-cigarettes are much more harmful than many realize and recommends adopting evidence-based health strategies to educate young people.
