Attorneys for Fort Worth Man Charged in Ole Miss Student’s Murder Seek Psychiatric Evaluation for Client

FORT WORTH  (WBAP/KLIF News) – Attorneys for a Fort Worth man charged with killing a University of Mississippi student withdrew a request for a judge to set bail.

Defense attorneys told a Mississippi judge Thursday they instead want 22-year-old Brandon Theesfeld to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.

Defense Attorney Tony Farese told reporters in Mississipi that lawyers received new information about their client this week.

“We reviewed that information with Brandon, his family and the defense team. It was a collective decision that it was in Brandon’s best interest to withdraw a request for bond at this time,” he said.

Thesfeld is charged in the murder of 21-year-old Alexandria Kostial of Kirkwood, Missouri.

Her body was found with several gunshot wounds July 20th about 30 miles from the university’s campus in Oxford.

Friends and family of both said the two dated on and off for years.

Theesfeld was also an Ole Miss student and has been suspended from the university.

He will remain jailed at a mental facility near Jackson.
