A Special ‘Thursday Night Lights’ at The Star in Frisco

Frisco, TX (WBAP/KLIF) High school football teams representing Texas communities marred by recent mass shootings competed in two separate games last night.

The Cowboys’ practice facility in Frisco hosted a game between Plano and El Paso Eastwood high schools … 22 people were killed in a mass shooting in El Paso last month.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones greeted each player as the exited the team bus.

Jones told El Paso officials:

“We want to be in any way we can supporting El Paso. We can’t think of a better way than to have [your] youth come right here and compete in our home, here at The Star.”

 

Among highlights of the game, the bands from both schools performed together at halftime.

Over 100, thousand dollars was raised through the sale of T-shirts supporting El Paso residents affected by the tragedy. WFAA-TV presented the check to a representative from an El Paso non-profit.

Meantime, in Odessa where 7 people were killed in a mass shooting last weekend, the city’s Permian High School hosted Franklin High of El Paso.
