Amber Guyger Booked into Prison to Begin 10 year Sentence

(WBAP/KLIF) – Former Dallas Police Officer Amber Guyger has begun serving her 10 year prison sentence.

Guyger was convicted of Murder in the shooting death of Botham Jean. Guyger told Police she shot Jean after mistaking his apartment for her own in September of 2018. She testified she was in fear for her life after suspecting Jean as an intruder.

According to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Guyger is at the Mountain View Unit where she is continuing the intake process. Prison official could not specify anything more about Guyger’s stay, but did indicate programs are in place for former Officers sentenced to prison.

It’s not clear if Guyger will be in general population or secluded. She’ll be eligible for parole in 2024.
