Substitute Teacher Fired After Viral Beating & Stomping of a Student

Kyle, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – A substitute high school teacher in Central Texas has been fired and arrested after a viral video shows her beating of a 15-year-old female school student and stomping on her head.

32-year old Tiffani Lankford was reportedly working at Lehman High School in Kyle, just south of Austin when the incident occurred in a language class.

Paul Batrice, an attorney for the girl’s family, says the students in the class were being loud and the situation escalated when the teacher cursed at them. Batrice says his clients’ daughter told her not to talk to her that way..

Lankford is charged with aggravated assault, according to the Hays County Sheriff’s office.

She is free on $10,000 bond after her arrest Friday afternoon.

In a retweet of a news article about the incident, Texas Governor Greg Abbott wrote:

“Conduct like this won’t be tolerated in Texas classrooms. The substitute teacher who committed this heinous act has been arrested & will face serious legal consequences. The school district will be investigated by the Texas Education Agency.”

 

Video of last week’s incident in a foreign-language class at Lehman High School in Kyle, Texas, went viral. Kyle is about 20 miles (32 kilometers) south of Austin.

Lankford began working Hays Consolidated ISD on Aug. 30.  She had subbed over a dozen times starting on Sept. 13.  She’s a resident of San Marcos, Texas.
