47-year-old Daniel Maberry lost his two-year battle with Stage 4 Lymphoma on Monday.
The popular coach had been with the district for two decades and took over as head football coach in 2016.
Maberry had been scheduled to go home with hospice this week after being hospitalized for the last few months.
He is survived by his wife, Cami, and their two daughters.
When news of Maberry’s death spread, the Mansfield ISD community sent messages of grief and support for the family on social media.

The district provided grief counselors for students and staff this week. Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
