Dallas Murder Rate Increases in January

(WBAP/KLIF) DALLAS, TX —  After a record year of homicides in Dallas, the January murder rate hasn’t slowed down. The city of Dallas saw over 200 people murdered last year, the highest since 2007.

Police reported that 18 murders had occurred this January which is four more than in January of 2019. Referring to the current crime trends, Dallas mayor Eric Johnson says “They are not going in the right direction.”

According to the Dallas Morning News, police chief Rene Hall has come under fire for presenting only a 5% crime reduction plan.
