Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – North Texas District 5 congressional candidate Don Hill (pictured left) says that the Federal Election Commission accepted a complaint against his opponent, freshman Congressman Lance Gooden of Terrell.
WBAP’s Kim Lampkins talked with Mr. Hill, a military veteran and conservative about the complaint which, for the most part alleges — from public information filings — that Gooden received reimbursements from his campaign totaling over $141,000 for unspecified expenses last year; and, that by comparison, reimbursement stats for all Texas congressmen combined total over $6,200 in 2019.
According to the Hill campaign, Mr. Gooden’s only statement on this issue came from his district coordinator Jennifer Alden, during an impromptu debate she entered in with a spokesman for Don Hill. She made the statement that “they have all the receipts.”
Our campaign asks the question then that if they had the receipts then why didn’t they comply with federal law as required to disclose the vendor and purpose of distributions from campaign funds to ensure transparency and compliance.

Meantime, in a statement from the FEC, the matter is confidential and remains under review until resolved.
“A provision of the federal statute requires that the enforcement process remain confidential until a matter has been closed, which includes the disclosure of any related case documents. As a result, we are unable to comment on the status of a complaint or release any materials until the matter has been closed.”
The Hill camp also found other alleged evidence of irregular payments since filing the initial complaint in mid-February.
“We just got dramatic NEW EVIDENCE of ADDITIONAL HIGHLY UNUSUAL REIMBURSEMENTS to Gooden from his official salary/office expense allowance: For Q4 2019 alone, Gooden took over $24,000 in suspect “reimbursements” from that account to go along with the over $35K he took that quarter from his campaign account.”
