DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — Concerned by the explosive growth of the coronavirus outbreak around the world a number of Texas universities have canceled or rescheduled travel programs.
Based on government recommendations Baylor University has postponed a scheduled student trip to South Korea and canceled plans for a group tour to China.
University of Dallas has a campus in Rome, Italy. Students there are being returned to the U.S.
TCU is also recalling students traveling abroad in Italy; planned trips to China have been suspended at least through August.
SMU has canceled all planned travel programs and told students already abroad to come home and self-quarantine.
The UT and Texas A&M systems have placed similar restrictions and cancellations in effect until further notice.
There have been no reports of coronavirus cases among students and faculty traveling abroad so far. The universities say they’re following governmental recommendations and common sense precautions.
