Plano ISD Asks Students, Staff Who Travel to Certain Countries During Coronavirus Outbreak to Self-Quarantine Upon Return

PLANO  (WBAP/KLIF News) – As new cases of the coronavirus continue to be confirmed nationwide, school districts are among many entities taking precautions to prevent an outbreak.

The Plano Independent School District has asked students and staff who are traveling for spring break to China, Iran, Italy, South Korea, Japan or any countries added to the CDC Level 2 and 3 lists to self-quarantine for 14 days after returning home.

The district is also requiring families to notify officials of their travel plans by completing an online form.

The form can be accessed here.

Meanwhile, with the flu season still in full swing, the district said it wants to reinforce students and staff to stay home when they’re sick or experiencing a fever.

In a statement, the district said it’s working hard to prevent an outbreak.

“The health and safety of our students and staff are our number one priority. We continue monitoring and working with the CDC, Collin County Health Services and the Texas Department of State Health Services for additional information and guidance.”
