Dangerous, Powerful Tornadoes and Winds Threaten Deep South Easter Sunday

FORT WORTH – WBAP/KLIF-  Forecasters with the National Weather Service warn of unusually dangerous conditions today for growth of storms moving out of North Texas and eastward across the Deep South today.   The storms that brought an approximate official half inch of rain overnight to the area around DFW International Airport brought more than a full inch of rain to some Metroplex areas by late morning on Sunday.

The storms are building as they move into Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi today, reaching into Alabama, and later, overnight, threatening Georgia and parts of the Carolinas with strong chances for development of tornadoes and damaging winds.   Forecasters say the greatest risk of dangerous weather – at this point – appears to be the chance of tornado activity in Louisiana and Mississippi, reaching into Alabama.

They advise people across the South, from Northeast Texas and east through the entire Deep South, to monitor weather watches and warnings, and have a shelter readily accessible should tornado or dangerous wind advisories or warnings be issued later today and through the evening.
