Coronavirus Fears Keep Medically Needy Away From E.R.

(WBAP/KLIF) — Medical professionals are concerned that the fear of Coronavirus is causing those needing medical care to avoid getting treatment.  According to doctor John Rolland, hospitals are seeing a tremendous reduction in the number of emergency room visits.

Rolland says hospitals are doing all they can to reduce the risk of contracting the virus including offering empty emergency rooms, as well as segregating those potentially infected.  The main reason hospitals and medical facilities are currently at half capacity or less is the fear of Coronavirus.

Rolland says the fear is really unnecessary because some people will fall ill to COVID-19, however the majority won’t suffer significant effects.  The fear of visiting emergency rooms has dropped E.R. occupancy by 40%.
