Dallas County Officials Recommend Holding Religious Services Online

Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins on 4/23/2020

DALLAS COUNTY (WBAP/KLIF NEWS)- Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins gave an update on the counties fight against COVID-19 Thursday.

One of the main topics of discussion was religious gatherings. While they are permitted amid the pandemic, Jenkins and other officials still recommend following CDC guidelines by holding online services.

“The Dallas county emergency management department, my office, me, and the public health authority as well as the CDC strongly encourages you not to hold congregant worship services,” said Jenkins.

The Islamic holy month Ramadan began Thursday night and Jenkins says most North Texas mosques have made the difficult decision to only hold online services.

Dallas County currently has over 2700 cases if COVID-19. 72 people have died.
