West Nile Virus Positive Mosquito Pool Found in Tarrant County

TARRANT COUNTY (WBAP/KLIF NEWS)- Amid the Coronavirus pandemic, Tarrant County is attempting the prevent another illness that usually pops up in April, the West Nile Virus.

Tarrant County Public Health officials on Friday confirmed they had collected the first positive West Nile Virus mosquito sample, which was found in a unincorporated area of north west Tarrant County.

The county began ground spraying to hopefully prevent the virus from spreading Friday night between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. and will spray again Saturday night at the same time.

No human cases have been reported but public health officials recommend residents take certain measures to prevent the virus from spreading. These measures include dumping standing water and using repellent.
