(WBAP/KLIF) — The city of Denton extended its disaster declaration, Thursday, until the end of May. The city council also approved $850,000 for use in COVID-19 response activities. In addition the city council approved funding to help out of work families.
All municipal court proceedings and utility shut-offs are postponed until after May 15th and $100,000 has been approved for the United Way of Denton to assist residents who have lost their jobs or income due to the Coronavirus.
Meanwhile, the council encouraged residents to remain home during the pandemic, however mimicked governor Greg Abbott’s order regarding businesses re-opening. The moves came during a special meeting held to extend the city’s disaster declaration order through May 31st.
