(WBAP/KLIF) — The Lone Star state’s Coronavirus death toll has hit single-day high. 50 Texans died of COVID-19, Thursday, In addition to 1,033 new cases being reported statewide, the first time the state has surpassed a thousand since April 8th.
The Texas death toll over the past three days hit 119, which marks the deadliest stretch since the state’s first fatality on march 17th.
The new figures come just as Texas begins a slow reboot of one of the world’s largest economies. governor Greg Abbott’s “stay-at-home” order has expired, opening up additional businesses.
The state still has over 19,000 available hospital beds and more than 6,200 unused ventilators. More than 28,000 texans have contracted COVID-19, while over 780 have died.
