Blue Bell Creamery Fined $19-Million for Contaminated Ice Cream

(WBAP/KLIF) — A Texas ice cream company has pleaded guilty in federal court to distributing contaminated goods.  Federal prosecutors say Blue Bell Creameries agreed to pay more than $19-million in fines and forfeiture as part of a plea agreement on two misdemeanor counts for shipping contaminated ice cream.

In addition, former CEO Paul Kruse has also been charged with seven felony charges of conspiracy and attempted wire fraud in connection to a 2015 listeria outbreak that left three people dead.

Kuse was charged, Friday, for allegedly concealing information about the listeria contamination. His lawyer maintains Kruse is innocent.
