Historic War Planes Flyover North Texas to Salute Local Heroes

ADDISON (WBAP/KLIF) – Addison’s Cavanaugh Flight Museum hosted a flyover on Friday featuring its historic war birds to pay tribute to first responders and medical workers amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The planes, which consisted of a Beach Starship, a B-25 Mitchell, a T-34, and others, passed by teams of police and firefighters in their vehicles before taking off.

“We put everybody in organization based of their speed and performance ability,” said pilot Raj Naraynan. “We just love watching everyone share this with us.”

The planes took off from Addison Airport late Friday morning and flew over several Dallas area hospitals. The aircraft zipped through the town of Addison before ending the flyover after noon.

Organizers said the purpose of the flyover was to salute those on the front line of the pandemic and to honor veterans ahead of Memorial Day.
