WACO (WBAP/KLIF News) – Police believe the remains found in a Waco dumpster may belong to the toddler at the center of a recent Amber Alert.

Investigators said they believe the body, which investigators found Tuesday morning, belongs to Frankie Gonales but are waiting on an autopsy to confirm.

The Waco Police Department, assisting agencies and the community have been searching for Frankie since Monday afternoon.

His mother said he was last seen near the restrooms at Cameron Park near University Parks Dr.  and Herring Avenue around 2 p.m.

During a press conference, a Waco Police Department officer said they issued the Amber Alert to out of a precaution.

“Because there was so much unknown. It was definitely a possibility that he was taken from Cameron Park. So, we’re exploring all avenues to see if he was actually taken from Cameron Park or anywhere else,” he said.

There’s currently no information about a suspect.
