Protesters Demonstrate in Dallas for Fourth Consecutive Night

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Protesters in Dallas demonstrated for the fourth consecutive night on Monday over the death of George Floyd. Video shows Floyd die after a Minneapolis Police Officer planted his knee in Floyd’s neck while Floyd pleaded for help.

Protesters marched from Dallas Police Headquarters to the Frank Crowley Courthouse despite warnings from Police. The march cane three days after looting and violence in Downtown and Uptown Dallas. Demonstrations were held just on the outskirts of where Police could enforce the curfew. But organizers warned of the possibility of arrest.

“We’re writing phone numbers for attorneys on people’s arm in case they get arrested,” a volunteer said.

Protesters even recited the Dallas County Jail hotline on the steps of the courthouse.

After a rally, demonstrators marched to the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge chanting and waving signs.

“It just says ends Police brutality,” said a protester about his signed made out of a white sheet.

On the bridge, Police briefly clashed with protesters and hundreds were detained. Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins said most of the people detained were later released.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott will be in Dallas Tuesday to discuss ongoing efforts to thwart protest violence.
